ARDUINO

MINI POPS BUILD

IMG_1572_edited.jpg

The Arduino Mini-Pops is an Arduino drum machine based on Jan Ostman's original design which was a replica of the original Korg Mini-Pops.

This project used an Arduino Nano as the control center for the drum machine. Each switch on the drum machine turns off a specific drum sound. The potentiometers will change either the tempo or the drum pattern.

The project used Jan Ostman's code for the implementation. Jan Ostman's site is now defunct, but a copy of the Arduino code can be found here on Github.

This was my first completed project from idea to full working implementation. The extruded aluminum case was repurposed from an old external hard drive. The holes for the components were marked by hand using a square and a ruler, and then, they were drilled. The case was painted to match a 1970's midcentury modern living room which served as the decorative inspiration for the piece.
